Y7 eSafety workshop.

As part of our programme to teach the children about the acceptable use of the internet, the Y7 pupils took part in an internet safety drama workshop organised by Konfluk Theatre Company.  The organisers worked with the children, in drama workshops, to learn about staying safe on-line.  The themes for the day included:

 Defining what Cyber Bullying is;

The importance of never giving out personal information (age, location, school etc.) online even if you think the person you’re talking to is a friend;

Making pupils aware of the age restrictions on social media sites;

Reiterating that children should always speak to a parent, guardian or teacher if they’re worried or have questions about any sites they’re using (including parental controls);

The children learnt to ‘Zip it! Block it! Flag it!’.  Keep everything private, block anything suspicious and report it to an adult.

At the end of the day Mrs McAlister’s Y7 class presented their very powerful play for the whole school.  Well done everyone.
