The Eco Council visited the classes in Martinstown today to explain our recycling program for Term 3 2019.  To combat the amount of rubbish in our landfill sites we are taking part in The Battery Hunt 2019.  All children were asked to consider how important it is not to bin used batteries but instead, recycle them in a safe way.  Each pupil was given a reusable cardboard battery box to collect and tally the number of batteries found.  The box can then be returned to school and the batteries will be recycled.

With support from Mid and East Antrim Borough Council the Eco Council also provided each child with a packet of free sunflower seeds. The Eco Council encouraged all their friends to plant and care for the seeds.  Our school’s Eco Council look forward to September when we can admire the tall sunflowers on our way to school.

The Eco Council would also like to brighten up the fence along the park in Martinstown and at the front of the school in Cargan. We are going to plant sweet pea and nasturtiums.  We ask if anyone has any old plastic window boxes or containers to donate them to the school.  Please contact Mrs McConway in Cargan on 02821758619.
