Provision for the Children of Key Workers

20th March 2020

Share:

Provision for the children of key workers during the COVID-19 outbreak will begin on Monday 23 March 2020.

Key workers are identified on the Department of Education’s website: https://www.education-ni.gov.uk/ Only a parent(s) working as a key worker, and where both parents are due to be at work at the same time, should consider sending their child to school. If possible, alternative childcare arrangements should be sought before deciding to send your child to school. For example, with other family members, friends etc. Please try and use schools as a last resort. This is to try and limit the number of children and adults together in a small space, in line with recent social distancing guidance.

The provision for the children of key workers:

  • Will take place on the Martinstown site
  • Normal opening and closing times will apply: 9 a.m. -2 p.m. (Ys 1-3), 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (Ys 4-7)
  • No bus service available
  • No school meals service
  • Children should wear their school uniform
  • Please be advised that the school will be performing childcare duties, not teaching
  • Learning at Home packs should not be taken to school

We would ask that you pay attention to the points outlined above before deciding to send your child to school. Please also remember PHA advice must be followed at all times and children/families must follow all self-isolation advice. Schools will also follow PHA advice should anyone display symptoms or take unwell during attendance.

If your only option is to send your child to school, we will look after them to support you in your important role.
