Well done to the boys and girls for their reading at home during the latest school closure period.

In addition to their guided reading reading, the pupils have been independently reading using the Accelerated Reader programme and taking online quizzes based on the books they have read. During this half term the children (P4-7) have read 1,183 books and a total of 7,399,286 words. That's an average of 10 AR books each (that doesn't include guided reading and all the other books children read independently!). Super effort.

P1-3 have their own online programme: Reading Eggs, which was introduced for the first time, at the start of the current period of school closures. Reading Eggs lessons focus on developing the core literacy skills children need for success at school. These include phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. The lessons are fun and enjoyable with a wide range of animations, activities, games and characters to help keep the children engaged in their learning. We look forward to further engagement and participation with Reading Eggs this year and watching our youngest pupils develop and progress in this area.

Time for a break and after half-term we will get up and at it again!
