Safer Internet Day in MQP

14th February 2020

Internet safety was the focus for all classes on Tuesday 11th February, Safer Internet Day.

From cyberbullying to social networking, each year Safer Internet Day aims to raise awareness of emerging online issues and chooses a topic reflecting current concerns.

This year the focus was on 'Online Identity' and asking our children to consider whether they and their peers are truly free to be themselves online.

Through Film, Art, ICT and Play, the children in MQP were helped to understand what PERSONAL DETAILS are and how their IDENTITY should never be openly shared online.

The teachers also explored with the children the idea of how they can safely express themselves online and be 'FREE TO BE ME' through the use of fun Usernames and Avatars.

Some of the KS2 children even put their Film skills to work and produced a short iMovie to explain to other children how to be internet SMART.

Take a moment to talk to your child about our Safer Internet Day - you are their 'Trusted Adult' and together you can help them to stay safe in this ever growing Digital World.
