Year 7 Leavers: Preparing for Post-Primary School

22nd June 2020

Share:

Moving from Primary to Secondary school is a new and exciting step for some children but it can also seem quite daunting for others. We want our pupils to know that this is the start of a new adventure and although we will miss them, we know you are ready to move on. The class of 2020 are all amazing individuals and whatever school they go to are lucky to have them.

In preparation for making this transition we have selected and created some helpful resources:

  • To mark their memories from MQP
  • To highlight what amazing qualities they already possess
  • To write a letter to their future self about their hopes and fears which they can revisit in years to come
  • To create a helping hand, recording the people whom they feel safe to speak to about their worries.
  • To provide helpful tips about going to secondary school
  • To share some of the previous Leavers’ fears and how they felt once they started school.

Click on the following link to watch helpful videos on transitioning https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/teacher-resources-for-students-transitioning-to-secondary-school/zb68y9q

These resources can also be accessed from the Primary 7 Google Classroom.

We want to wish the Primary 7 pupils all the best in your new schools and don’t forget to come back and visit us.

Mrs McLoughlin and Miss O’Donnell
